In loving, living memory, John Melançon 1928 – 2007
[almost all start with ten or more seconds of silence as i re-gathered my thoughts]
if drugs were legal, my friend would be alive today. I don't know how many times that sentence has been said or written, but it could have been said or written hundreds of thousands of times in the last ... several years alone. I don't know the statistics. My friend Andrew would have known the statistics, and the extent to which overdoses are due to impurities, lack of regulation of course, inconsistency of access.
Advice on Urban Exploring in Detroit:
There's tons of shit to explore in Detroit, if you got some semblance of balls. Detroit knows how to lock up abandoned shit because that's all we do. And we know damn well how easy it is for anyplace to become a crack den squat, so we lock that shit up. You're gonna have to break into some places. Detroit style.
Check out the Ruins of Detroit web site, if it's still up. Also, check "abandoned by neglect" if you can find something there.

Primary objective is to develop a "tribe" of followers who will become loyal readers and customers of money making business ventures including but not limited to NYC tourism and sales of various merchandise.

If drugs were legal, my friend Andrew would not have died Sunday night.
This was not my first reaction. My first reaction was unfocused rage (which itself seems to be a coping method when faced with overwhelming sadness).

I strongly believe hospitals kill people, and that they should never have admitted my father for lung problems - emphysema - they knew damn well they could not do anything for. The best home-based breathing machine or oxygen would have been far better (he was rallying as far as the lungs and died due to blood poisoning contracted at the hospital).
"I don’t really do research in order to write. Finding out about things, figuring out the real story—what you call research—is part of life now for some of us. Mostly just to get over the indignity of living in a pool of propaganda, of being lied to all the time, if nothing else."

How someone becomes an expert by saying things people with power want said.
This is incredibly sad.

I don't do holiday gifts, that requires a level of planning and coordination i'm simply not able to initiate, let alone sustain, at the moment.
I am liable to occasionally giving certain people money or something expensive, or just paying for dinner more often than not.
After reading the first hundred pages of Debt: The First 5,000 Years by David Graeber, i was moved to examine my own behavior a bit. (There is tons and tons in the book to think and write about that is much more important than self-reflection, but this is easier to write.)
Occupy Seattle
2:39amAn unknown male attempted to drug a woman at the Occupy Seattle camp at SCCC. Occupiers from the camp stopped what was going on and ran the suspect out of the camp. The woman received medical care from our staff and authorities were notified at approximately 9PM.
While the Founders accepted outcome inequality, they emphasized -- over and over -- that its legitimacy hinged on subjecting everyone to the law’s mandates on an equal basis.
At the end of an article in which Mayor Bloomberg stated that protesters can stay in Zuccotti Park / Liberty Plaza, and then some he said / she said lazy reporting, Politico included this, only he said, extremely lazy reporting:
Obama, why do you use "they" for the American people instead of "we".
