Benjamin Maurice Melançon the First, A.D.H.D. variously known as BMM Inc., the Maurice Institute Library, and the godfather of CATSUP, is quite possibly a figment of his own imagination.

Seth Godin doesn't know it, but he's an official spokesperson for PWGD

His latest blog, What happens when we organize, in it's entirety, emphasis added:

Most power occurs because one side is better organized than the other. Labor is usually less well organized than management, criminals are usually less well organized than the police and customers are always less well organized than producers.

Fast cars and fast women

I have come to the end of my days of fast cars and fast women. Will you slow down!

— Matt to Daniella (who was driving like the last mile of a stock car race)

Contact anyone you want: Personally, with respect, and before you need them

Seth Godin was invited to join the Forbe's network of financial bloggers... by bulk e-mail:

I wrote her back, pointing out that she hadn't even bothered to pretend it was a personal note... just a mail merge missing my name.

She responded (this is the entire note):

I'm not sending these out. I have people working for me that send out 500 a day. Are you interested in joining, Seth?

Just a short post to announce my arrival on Technorati

And to get them to find me. Hey, I set up my Technorati Profile on your site, guys.

If Firefox is a gateway drug, what is Flock?

Not arguing with any of this, but if tried-and-true Firefox is a gateway drug to using web sites and online tools in a sophisticated way, what class substance is the social media browser Flock?

Bitten by a deer tick

For the second time in about a year (last time was in the fall I think) I've been bitten by a deer tick... small, and with the brown around the back. Swimming in alcohol now. Vegans do fight back when attacked. Those ticks dig in fast and deep and I am not very observant with my own body– it must have gotten on me walking the dogs yesterday in the town forest.

Both dogs seem to be tick free.

Kids, listen up– this is why you should get naked whenever possible, never fall asleep with your shirt on, and shower every day.

Crazy movie and radical Purim party in Boston Saturday

For the record, I got into Boston to meet Rich, Manda, and Andrew late, after a very slow drive through Wellesley traffic and ending up at Riverside instead of any slightly farther along green line stop, and after having shaved in the shower in a fashion that was much remarked upon. I don't think there are pictures.

(Resolved: shave with plenty of time and take the commuter rail, however empty the schedule.)

First attraction, Onward Toward Calgary, a very funny, very crazy film.

Available-ingredients Jamaican Goulash Recipe from last night

(This ingredients list is quite literally what was in the house.)

15 oz baby carrots, chopped large
3 small purplish potatoes, chopped small
10 oz white mushrooms, chopped medium
20 oz can diced tomatoes
16 oz can black beans
Jamaican Rasta Rub (from Building 19, naturally). Veronica said the super-hot ingredient is Scotch Bonnet pepper
Mexican chili (redundant)
Curry powder
Italian seasoning (oregano, basil, etc.)
Light salt (half potassium chloride)

Happy Iranian New Year and For real this time: I only eat in the company of others

The first day of Spring is also the Iranian new year, according to my only real Iranian friend, Vafa.

With the exception of raw fruit and vegetables, I will only eat in the company of other people.

Finally a chain letter I can support: don't buy at Exxon or Mobil gas stations

I wrote back to everyone and a few others:

Even more: boycott ExxonMobil because of human rights abuses and environmental destruction, as well as the economic exploitation helping to bleed us dry.
