In loving, living memory, John Melançon 1928 – 2007
Pardon the bunch of short, post-dated journal entries just to get this last week recorded!
Between the few train options provided by the MBTA commuter rail, and then the subway not accepting bikes until after 7 p.m., I was rather late by the time I biked into Harvard Square from South Station. Then I made the mistake of looking at the map in the central triangle above the T stop, and followed Brattle Street (as it seemed to indicate) when I should have immediately born left. After a couple huge loops of this, I finally found the Charles Hotel (I've been there twice before, is the sad part), but too late to attend Robin Chase's presentation on GoLoco, a new nonprofit (?) service for sharing rides anywhere and everywhere.
(Yes, I'd tried to use it to get a ride into Boston. This is where we need that word that doesn't exist but is what people mean when they misuse irony in situations that – far from being the opposite of what you'd expect – are exactly what you would expect if you have a sick sense of humor.)
(It continues to hold true– if I'm moving faster than walking, I can't navigate.)
By then I had to head over to MIT for meeting with Boston Indymedia about Agaric taking on a formal partly professional / largely donated role to get their site finally relaunched in Drupal.
After a very good meeting with Sofia and Rob I biked back to Harvard Square to play nighttime illuminated ultimate frisbee. Lots of fun!
