In loving, living memory, John Melançon 1928 – 2007
Dan made cauliflower soup. With almond milk, yellow bell pepper, garlic, and lots of tahini hummos. We could eat pureed vegetable all day.
I took a recipe for Sesame Mango sauce over zucchini fettuccine— except no mangoes and not much zucchini either. Ginger, carrots, apples, and red pepper filled, along with the called-for lemon (well, it asked for juice), tahini, and black sesame seeds in to make a most interesting topping for Vafa's beautifully-sliced, best zucchini fettuccine I've ever had (we were going for linguine but it was fatter than linguine).
And finished with the signature walnuts and sun-dried tomatoes. With garlic, the non-sprouting part of a sprouting onion, and a half gallon of olive oil. Nothing cooked this time, just warmed by the (poor, abused, struggling) food processor. Over very thinly sliced sweet potatoes flavored with salt, turmeric, pepper, and more salt. These were put in the toaster oven on half-warm. The tray always stayed safe to pick up with bare hands, so i think that qualifies as raw.
