American Newspeak by Wayne Grytting is “A satirical e-zine celebrating cutting edge advances in Orwell's Doublespeak.” In other words, he tells us what he's read in the newspapers.
Brunching Shuttlecocks. The name says it all. It means “small rounded pieces of cork or rubber with a crown of feathers or plastic, used in badmitton, eating a meal between breakfast and lunch.” Okay, maybe defining the name doesn’t help. But it usually has very funny stuff, and sometimes social commentary thrown in. For example, while describing a "massive multiplayer online roll-playing game," contributor Sjöberg explained: “the world as a whole never changes because of anything you do. So in that way it's less like being a fantasy adventurer and more like being a social worker.” Thanks to Jeff Burke for advertising this site.
Car Talk, the web site of Tom and Ray Magliozzi (aka “Click and Clack”), two auto mechanics who seem to spend most of their time talking on public radio and writing newspaper columns.
